About Steve Heikkila
Steve Heikkila lived in four different US states before starting Kindergarten. He’s lived a relatively rootless American existence ever since. As the first in a working class family to go to college, Steve has had an extremely varied work life, from auto mechanic in North Carolina to university professor in Georgia and South Carolina. His graduate studies focused on moral and political philosophy and the philosophy of modernity. After earning his PhD in 1996, Steve worked for several years in exploitively underpaid non-tenure track university positions before eventually leaving academia for more economically viable career opportunities. He now lives in the Pacific Northwest in an urban coastal liberal elite bubble, working as a contingent, adjunct-like marketing consultant. In his spare time he enjoys cooking, writing, alpine mountaineering, and impersonating Abraham Lincoln.
